Settings

The Settings module allows you to configure how Xolmis Mobile behaves during fieldwork. These options control species search, inventory behavior, data import/export, backups, and general preferences. Adjusting settings before going to the field ensures a smoother and more efficient workflow.

General Settings

General preferences for the app interface.

Initial Module

Select which module shows when the app starts.

Appearance

Choose between:

  • Light
  • Dark
  • System default

Select the country where you are working.

This determines:

  • The species list used in searches
  • Regional checklists

Tags

Manage available tags. You can add new tags using the field at the screen top, remove added tags or change the color of tags. Some predefined tags cannot be removed.

Observers

The observer settings define your personal identification within the app.

Default observer abbreviation

A short code used to:

  • Generate inventory IDs
  • Create nest and specimen field numbers
  • Identify who collected each record

This abbreviation is required for most modules.

Inventory Settings

Settings that affect how inventories behave during creation and sampling.

Maximum active inventories

Limit how many inventories can run simultaneously.

Propagation of species to inactive inventories

Define the behavior when adding species to inactive inventories:

  • Always propagate (to active inventories).
  • Always ask.
  • Never propagate.

Mackinnon list size

Set the number of species per list.

Default durations

Configure default times for:

  • Timed lists
  • Interval lists
  • Point counts

Reminders

Enable reminders for:

  • Missing vegetation data
  • Missing weather data

These reminders appear when finishing an inventory.

Import and Export

General settings for data transfer.

Existing records when importing

Define what happens when imported data conflicts with existing records:

  • Always ask
  • Update existing records
  • Ignore existing records

Format numbers

Check this option to use the localized decimal separator, or uncheck it to use period (.).

Backup

Tools for safeguarding your data.

Create backup

Generates a full backup of all app data.

Restore backup

Replaces all current data with the contents of a backup file.
